The "Unearthed" Collection
Introducing The Unearthed Collection.
These canvases were inspired by my love of Steampunk and a passion for all things archeological.
When I created these I imagined each one was buried. A treasure waiting to be discovered in a dusty old place full of memories and relics.
Canvas #1 - Josephina The Dark Mistress was owned by a wealthy family who lived at the foot of Mount Vesuvius in Campania, Italy. Sadly, the family home was consumed by the eruption in 1794 but before the family fled to save themselves they locked Josephina in a lead lined safe in the hope that her timeless beauty would bring joy to another family one day.
Canvas #2 - Temperance The Flame Haired Wiccan was never really owned by any one person. After the canvas was painted it was lost in a turbulent storm that swept across The Philippines destroying buildings, natural landmarks and claiming thousands of lives. Lost, until it was discovered amongst the belongings of a noblewoman after she passed. The family, feeling no sentimental attachment to the piece, gifted it to a local thrift store where it sat on a shelf gathering dust.
Canvas #3 Minerva - The Seeker of Truth. Not much is known about the origin of this piece, but it was discovered in an Egyptian Tomb along with other artifacts of significant value. It was set to be displayed in the Grand Egyptian Museum, Cairo until it was dismissed as a piece of little significance and left, discarded in a store room for many years.
NB : These stories are purely fictional. Merely the musings of a whimsical artist and not related to any factual events or actual histories.
Each canvas measures 12 x 9". Each one signed and labelled #1 to #3
