Spidley — The Collector of Souls
Meet Spidley.
Lurking somewhere between nightmare and magnificent absurdity, Spidley the Collector of Souls is one of the more unsettling creatures to crawl from the House of Kyrtex.
His sprawling form is dominated by eight long, individually wrapped legs surrounding a heavily textured body built from layers of twisted and hardened fabric. Deep folds, ridges and irregular surfaces give him an almost ancient, organic appearance, as though Spidley wasn't created so much as discovered somewhere he had been patiently waiting.
Dark earthy tones are layered with bronze, copper and golden metallic highlights, each applied by hand to catch the raised textures across his body and legs. The result changes with the light, revealing details hidden within the darker folds and making his already considerable presence rather difficult to ignore.
Individually sculpted using fabric, Powertex and mixed-media techniques, Spidley wasn't created from a pattern or produced as part of a run. His shape, textures and wonderfully sinister personality developed organically during his creation, ensuring there will never be another quite like him.
Despite his rather ominous title, precisely whose souls Spidley has collected — or where he is currently keeping them — remains information he has chosen not to disclose.
Perfect for lovers of spiders, gothic interiors, dark fantasy and anyone whose home is crying out for an enormous eight-legged creature staring accusingly across the room.
