Toadstool Mansion — Fantasy Fabric Sculpture
Meet Toadstool Mansion.
Deep in the stranger corners of the House of Kyrtex stands a dwelling where sensible people probably wouldn’t knock after dark.
Toadstool Mansion is a one-of-a-kind fantasy sculpture dominated by an enormous, wonderfully unruly russet-red mushroom cap. Beneath it sits a crooked little dwelling, complete with a tiny weathered door, windows and twisting sculptural details that make it look as though the house has grown naturally from the forest floor rather than been built there.
Created using fabric sculpting, mixed-media and Powertex techniques, layers of material have been shaped, hardened and worked by hand to create the exaggerated folds of the toadstool and the wonderfully gnarled textures of the building beneath. Metallic pigments and aged finishes pick out the raised details and give the mansion its old, slightly enchanted appearance.
There is no known record of who currently occupies Toadstool Mansion. This may be because nobody has asked, or because those who did have yet to return.
Perfect for lovers of woodland fantasy, witches, goblins, peculiar architecture and anyone who has ever looked at a mushroom and thought, someone definitely lives in there.
