Veydis the Many-Eyed — Dark Fantasy Sculpture
Meet Veydis.
Ancient, watchful and spectacularly misnamed, Veydis the Many-Eyed is one of the stranger creatures to have emerged from the House of Kyrtex.
A single vivid green eye peers from beneath layers of heavily sculpted texture, while a mass of twisting, tentacle-like forms rises above his head. Deep blacks, purples and aged metallic tones have been built up and dry-brushed by hand, allowing every ridge, fold and wonderfully peculiar detail to emerge from the shadows.
Veydis is individually sculpted using mixed-media and Powertex techniques, with layers of fabric worked and hardened into his wonderfully distorted form. His textures, pose and finishing developed organically during creation, ensuring that there will never be another quite like him.
Despite the rather ambitious title of The Many-Eyed, Veydis currently appears to possess precisely one eye. Whether the others are hidden, lost, or simply none of our business remains unclear.
For collectors of dark fantasy, strange creatures and artwork that raises considerably more questions than it answers.
